​​My name is Mark Castaneda and I am a Filipino, Gay, Muslim man. I believe in the One God who created everything, the One God who sustains everything, and the One God who has given us diversity in our expression, and I am thankful for this experience.

Mohammad Navid Bazargan

Mohammad Navid Bazargan was born in 1963 in Tehran. He is an assistant professor of Persian Literature and writer of Encyclopedia of Persian language and Literature in Iran.

 

In addition of his academic career he has always been interested in Painting and Calligraphy.He has spent many years to study painting with different media and held several painting exhibitions in Iran and Other countries.

 

Simultaneously, he applied for Iranian Association of Calligraphers from1987and after 5 years was granted “outstanding Calligrapher” degree.His current artistic experience is combining Calligraphy and painting in different style which has Graphic Impressions.

Keyvan heydari

Keyvan heydari a.k.a CK1 is the pseudonym of an Iranian visual artist, and graffiti artist pioneer.His works are based on Iranian root culture poets like Hafez and Rumi. The postmodern use of Persian alphabet/Islamic art motifs in his works, instead of using only western culture sets his artwork apart.

 

Immigration (2011): He moved to San Francisco in 2011. He has done many street art and public art projects in San Francisco and bay area such as Clarion alley mural project, SFMTA and Chinese culture center project with Justin Hoover and Shaghayegh Cyrous and many other individual projects through San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley and etc.

Nabeela Raza Sajjad

​​Nabeela is the founder of Islamic Art Exhibit, a non-profit organization (2009). They exhibit artwork by local Muslim Artists in the Bay Area libraries and Islamic Centers. Islamic Art Exhibit promotes Islamic Art to the greater American audience and provides a platform for the talented Muslim Community.

 

Nabeela has a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pakistan. She settled in the United States in 1992. She resides in the San Francisco Bay Area, California with her husband and three children.

Machiko Matsushima

Machiko Matsushima (born in 1944 in Nagasaki, Japan) was admitted into the Japanese Calligraphy Educational Foundation in 1979. In 1984 she obtained a teacher’s license, and in the same year opened the Matsushima branch school. She currently teaches classes at three locations. She has received the Japanese Calligraphy Award in the Japan Calligraphy Exhibition in 1998 and 2000.

Neal (Jamal) Koga

​​Neal (Jamal) Koga, born in 1971, has been experimenting with calligraphy using the Arabic script since he began studying Arabic in 2002. Although chiefly autodidactic, he has received personal guidance and inspiration from calligraphers in Fes (Morocco) and Bukhara (Uzbekistan).
